Keeping Your Commercial Property

Clean This Summer

Commercial properties see much more traffic and usage than residential properties. Numerous different people are coming and going, vendors are always stopping by, and equipment is running constantly. This all means that a lot of dirt, debris, and bacteria are being produced or brought into a commercial property. This can be hazardous to employees, vendors, and consumers in various ways if not properly cleaned and maintained. We know that it is challenging to keep your facilities clean because you have a business to run. So, we have some tips to help make it easier for you to keep your business clean during the summertime. They include:

  • Check for Pests: Pests are a pain to get rid of. The best and most cost-effective thing to do is take preventative measures to stop infestations from occurring. However, they do not always completely prevent pests from getting in. Look for signs of pests and if you suspect that you have some, hire a pest control company to perform an inspection and take necessary remedial actions.

  • Power wash the Exterior: Keeping your property damage-free and pest-free is always a priority for every property owner. An easy way to do this is by simply cleaning the exterior of the property. Power washing is an effective method of cleaning all types of exteriors such as vinyl siding, brick, and concrete. It can get rid of dirt, dust, debris, and insects by using only water.

  • Clean the Windows: Windows get very dirty from the wind and weather. They commonly get caked in dirt, dust, and insect debris. These can be let into the interior of a property when windows are opened. Clean them to prevent the debris from getting into the inside of your property when windows are opened.

  • Replace Your HVAC Air Filter: Your HVAC filter helps remove potential contaminants from your indoor air. However, they last for a specific period. We recommend that you replace your air filters often for optimal results.

  • Clean the Gutters & Spouts: Water damage is a constant threat to every type of property. Our gutter systems are responsible for capturing water from the roof and transporting it away. However, this does not always happen. Clogs in the gutters and downspouts cause water to get trapped on the roof and/or fall over the sides and toward the foundation. Both things can cause major deterioration of the roof, exterior, and foundations of our properties. Cleaning the gutters while the weather is nice helps prevent all these things.

  • Inspect the Roof: Roof damage can allow moisture and debris to get into your property and damage various components such as your plumbing system, drywall, and flooring. Inspect your roof for damage and get any damage repaired quickly to prevent further damage to the property.

  • Clean & Replace Door Mats: Your door mats are the first line of defense from dirt and debris being carried in on people’s shoes. You should have them cleaned often and replaced when needed.

  • Clean All Surfaces: Clean all surfaces daily to prevent dirt from building up and keep cleaning times to a minimum.

  • Mow the Lawn: Keeping your lawn mowed will deter pests from coming to your property and it helps prevent debris from getting trapped in the grass blades. We also recommend that you spray fertilizers to keep your lawn healthy and aesthetically appealing.

  • Repair Exterior Cracks & Damage: Damage to the exterior of your property provides access points for pests and the elements to get in. They can then cause even further damage to your property. Repair any damage to prevent these things from ever happening.
